Getting to know you - World Organic Skincare

World Organic Skincare

Skin care that’s good for you, naturally

image

I’m such a sucker for a good moisturiser. I love having a day cream, a night cream and one that makes my hands super soft and holdable. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when World Organics Skincare signed up to the March 9 Blackbird Market!

I’m going to pass the reigns over to Chelsea who steers the ship, to introduce herself and her brand!

Hi Blackbird Market fans,

My name is Chelsea and We are World Organic Skin Care. We are looking forward to meeting you and invite you to come and say hi, perhaps try a sample of our Pomegranate and Shea hand cream, and take a look at our wonderful skin care range at the March 9 Blackbird Market

So, Tell us a little bit about your label and what you do?

World Organic is our lovely label which includes ‘The Organic Skin Company’ and ‘River Veda’ brands.

We are selling quality New Zealand made skincare products as consultants for World Organic. We are especially pleased to share that they are produced in an ethical and thoughtful way.  Our ingredients are Eco certified and sourced from fair trade community farms in India. The packaging is recyclable and FSC mix certified.

What inspires your work?

We love our products. They smell great (naturally) and leave our skin feeling wonderfully nourished. Full of therapeutic essential oils and moisturising ingredients, like Aloe Vera and Shea Butter, there are no nasty chemicals in our creams. Chelsea’s heart is in supporting overseas communities through fair trade.

What’s your creative background?

I’m an artist at heart and musician by blood. She loves to paint, is learning to sew (patchwork is her current project) and singing/music is something that has been a life-long romance for her.

What is the best part about having your own business?

Making new friends, sharing products we love and believe in, discussing ideas with others on conscious living and supporting fair trade communities.

What keeps you up at night?

Travel plans and reading… always reading!

Getting to know you - Zen Moments

ZEN MOMENTS
Ignite your senses with Zen Moment. Individually handcrafted candles, made in Melbourne with love

image

Zen Moments are Blackbird Market regulars. Since their first stall with us way back in 2010, Zen Moments have been an integral part of the Blackbird Family and now we can’t imagine a Blackbird Market without them!

Zen Moments are rich, handmade candles that smell so good you could eat them! To say the Blackbird team are obsessed with their candles would be an understatement.

We sat down with our favourite candlemaker, Jane Halpin, to find out more about her much beloved brand, Zen Moments.

How did you start your business and how long have you been

creating?

My best friend gave me a candle making kit one year for Christmas as she knew that was what I wanted to do.  The kit was with me for 3 years until I finally bit the bullet in 2009 and made my first candle.

I already had the business name in my head and from that moment….I never looked back!!

What artists or ideas inspire your work?

I was originally inspired by Ecoya palm wax pillars.  I loved everything about them especially the fact that they weren’t paraffin!

Describe your workspace and what inspires you?

My customers inspire me.  I am constantly thinking of what I can do that is different and a de cluttered workspace normally does that.  It helps to have pretty pictures around!!

What do you love most about being an a creator?

I love the freedom it allows me and that so many people get enjoyment out of what I do!!

And now, the most important question, tea or coffee?

Multiple coffees!!!

You can catch Zen Moments at the March 9 Blackbird Market. And in  case you were wondering, our favourite ‘flavour’ is Fig and Cassius.
